The way home
When we came out of the lift, we told Paige we’re going home and had her walk ahead. Wanted to see if she knows the way home from the lift to the door. She looked back a couple of times but she kept walking, to the right door.
playclub week 4
Paige still has pretty bad stomach flu and since she hardly ate, she was weak. Kept her home from playclub today, she’ll have to makeup the class some time this term. Too bad she didn’t get to go for class, she likes sand play.
Skidamarink……
Ever had a song stuck in your head and whatever you do, you can’t forget it or let it go!!!!
Skidamarink adink adink……skidamarinkadoo……I love you!
Love you in the morning and in the afternoon, love you in the evening and underneath the moon……Argh!!
The touchy toddler
How does one handle a bundle of nerves disguised as a cute 17-month-old toddler? It’s a mystery! She refuses to eat, cries unexpectedly, places immediate demands for milk and when it is prepared, turns the milk down like poison in a bottle, sleeps sparingly despite constant yawning, screams from her crib……
Ahh……the joys of parenthood! Even though Paige has faithfully taken her stomach flu medicine, she continues to produce poop in all shapes and sizes constantly. She takes in the occasional scrap here and there and is looking much thinner than she did a week ago. Through this all, she continues to smile in between bouts of crying and moping and when she does, it makes everything we do for her worth it.
One suspicion is that she may be teething yet again. We broke out the teetha and at “post” time, it doesn’t seem to be working too great. Let’s hope the situation improves.
On a side note, it’s weird that the mini grocery stores littered around Punggol are still closed, this the fourth day of Chinese New Year. How do they pay the rent? Are we in a recession? As a result, I couldn’t get my soya milk and many other items that were depleted during the holiday long weekend. And what is it with the stores not posting their re-opening time? I guess we’ll just have to try elsewhere.

Owl
Paige’s one and only set of flashcards are a set of picture/photo animals card. I bought them when she was very young. She was more interested in tearing them up so I put them away and forgot about them. Recently she found them in her toy chest. She recognized some of the animals and could say their names. She would say the name, take the card from me and look at it for a few seconds. When she took the owl card, she looked at it and turned it around and around. She couldn’t figure out which side up.
Sick baby
CNY day 3
Eugene went back to work today, not much of a holiday this time. Paige woke up when he was leaving for work and she still had a fever, at 38. We gave her a dose of medicine and she went back to sleep. She got up around 11am and the fever was down, but since her tummy is not getting any better, Eugene came home in the afternoon and we brought her to Kidslink.
Although there weren’t that many people ahead of us, it still took some time waiting. We found out that she now weighs a measly 8.6kg…..wow, where did all that food go? We got home about 2 hours later, armed with medicine for her stomach flu. The PD told us it was unlikely she got the chicken pox, though the incubation period is 2-3 weeks. She did have some reaction to the virus.
She was tired most of the time and took more naps. Her appetite was very bad, and it was hard to feed her since she was not supposed to have diary products, milk, fruits or vege. What’s left??! She did appear less lethargic though but got tired easily through the bouts of activity due to her stomach flu. And the poop……yes the poop continued on…..altogether 5 times total for the rest of the day! We got to invest our money in MamyPoko stocks! But the silver lining was that the fever remained at bay and so does a big part of our worry. Oh, the angst of parenthood.
