Trial at JWT

took Lyn for a trial class at JWT UE Square.

Chalk drawing

Today’s word of the day is 3 for English and ? for Chinese.
For craft the kids stencil sponged “3″ and glued 3 monkeys to yarn attached to an ice cream stick.
Water play was switched to chalk drawing due to H1N1. Paige first experience with chalk, she seem to like it.

Playclub term 3 class 3

Outdoor play, Paige in the little tikes house.

Playclub term 2

We waitlisted Paige to move to Saturday’s Playclub for term 2. Put down 3 time slots for Saturday and Sunday and we got our first choice for Saturday. That should ease things for weekdays and Saturday Eugene can take her to class while I stay home with lil moo.

Playclub week 8

We got to JG with some time to spare so we went to the little reading room. Paige took fancy to a series of “pig” books. The pig was doing different activities like playing with friends, telling a story etc. Paige surprised me by signing friends, and story. These were all sign language from her favorite Baby Einstein “First Signs” but she has never signed them to us before. Only goes to show she learnt more than we thought.

Favorite time in class, snack time. The only kid left eating, while others are already playing in the outdoor playground.

Playclub makeup

Paige went for a makeup class for Playclub this afternoon, for the week she missed during CNY when she was sick. It was pretty much the same class as Friday. Good choice I guess since this is the week the crafts is also food/bread, 2 snacks in one class, what can be better??  At least we got to bring the wind chime home since hers from Friday was chosen for the notice board.

It was raining quite heavily so the outdoor play was changed to sand play from playground. Paige didn’t mind at all and stayed the whole time while other kids came and left.

Playclub week 7

It was a huge huge stress getting to class, the stupid SMRT cab that was assigned to pick us up was a no show. Will never never never use them ever again.

Since we got to class slightly late, Paige missed most of the free play. She cried a little before we entered the classroom but was fine for the rest of the class. The theme today was “Square” for both English and Chinese. The crafts were fun. For English, the kiddos decorated a paper wind chime made up of 3 squares in different sizes. For Chinese, they made cheese sandwich and cut the square sandwich into 4 equal squares. Each kid was supposed to say “square” in Mandarin to the teachers before they get to eat their share/square but of course Paige wanted to eat but not say it!! In the end her wind chimes was chosen for the notice board and she ate her chinese crafts so we didn’t bring home any craft projects for this week.

“Cheese sandwich is so not a craft, Just let me EAT it already!!!”

Playclub week 6

Today’s class started off with Parents Chat. No parents brought up the problem of class size but from the chat 2 other moms and I had with one of the teachers, I’m pretty sure that was in the feedback forms.

Playclub week 5

IMO this is probably the worst class so far. Since Paige missed the last class, it has been 2 weeks since her last class and she needed all the warming up again. I did most of the class with her as Eugene had meeting late into the afternoon. Plenty of crying. Entered the class, cried, start of welcome song, cried, arts & crafts, cried. Snack, happy…. until I tried to get her away from her class snacks to gather around a birthday boy to sing birthday song. She screamed!!! The Chinese teacher actually signaled to me to let her eat, so she was the only kid left at the tables, eating. As though that wasn’t bad enough, she decided to help herself to another boy’s bread (bread! how can she resist! *sigh*) in front of the other mom and her boy. Worse, it was half eaten and discarded! How gross!!! *argh* She didn’t want to leave her bread to sing birthday song, but she wants the cake alright! Finally the whole slice of cake herself.

The theme for today’s class was “V” for vet and equivalent for the chinese. The arts & crafts was cute but corny to me. Patch up an injured puppy? :) The other project is a vet stethoscope, if you can’t tell what it is.

playclub week 4

Paige still has pretty bad stomach flu and since she hardly ate, she was weak. Kept her home from playclub today, she’ll have to makeup the class some time this term. Too bad she didn’t get to go for class, she likes sand play.
